When I opened this web site with the url 'welshcollies' it was due to being a lover of the fiesty little Welsh Collie of old, the ones that are now as rare as the Giant Panda, as reported by the tv program Countryfile.
Once upon a time every shepherd and farmer with sheep owned one of this little dogs that were as quicksilver in the field. Now they are few and far between, a complete and utter shame.
Not only are they fiesty with strangers and livestock, but they are also so sweet natured, so affectionate and so small, with the bitches being between 16 and 18 inches high at the shoulders, of slim build and long silky fur and the dogs no more than 20 inches at the shoulders.

Breeze is a Welsh Border Collie and since 1960 we have only been priviledged to own four Welsh bitches like her.
Sometimes throwbacks occur in a litter and at one time I tried my hardest to encourage people to breed the little ones so that they did not become extinct, alas, this was an impossible task as the bigger, more robust Border Collies swept in and took the place of the little Welsh Border Collie.
My husband and I still love the little ones more than anything, and notoriously, just like all other Welsh Border Collies Breeze is so funny and makes us laugh all the time with her traipsing little antics and deep bark. We are so glad that we have her. She is wonderful.
The first Welsh Border Collie that we owned lived for 20 years. We hope that Breeze lives as long.
